Representation

ABCB is a Member of UKAS and attends and votes at the UKAS Annual General Meeting. It is also represented on the following bodies:

UKAS Policy Advisory Forum (PAF)

ABCB has two seats on PAF and its membership enables the Association to contribute to UKAS policy development.

UKAS Policy Advisory Council (PAC)

The ABCB Chief Executive represents the interests of certification body and inspection body associations on the UKAS PAC.

Standards Committees

ABCB nominates representatives from its Members to a number of Standards Committees at both the national and international level. This allows the Association to contribute to the development of conformity assessment standards at both BSI and ISO/CASCO. ABCB Members are actively involved in the Committees responsible for developing ISO/IEC17021, ISO/IEC 17024 and ISO/IEC 17065.

European Federation of Associations of Certification Bodies (EFAC)

ABCB is a founder member of EFAC which has members representing the interests of accredited certification bodies Europe-wide. The ABCB Chief Executive is Chairman of EFAC and represents EFAC on the EA General Assembly, the EA Advisory Board and the EA Certification Committee.

International Accreditation Forum (IAF)

ABCB is an active member of the International Accreditation Forum and represents the interests of members on the:

  • IAF Technical Committee, responsible for the development of guidance to and interpretation of accreditation Standards. The ABCB Chief Executive is a member of various IAF Working Groups and is currently convenor of a Group developing guidance for accreditation bodies on the assessment of certification body competence in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021:2011.
  • IAF MLA Committee, responsible for the development and management of the IAF multilateral mutual recognition agreement (MLA)
